The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin and defeat heresies.
How many times have you done something that you repeatedly try NOT to do? How often have you told yourself that you wish you could stop doing (fill in the blank), but there is almost this default mode that takes over and you find yourself repeating those undesirable behaviors? This is known as a “vice”. A vice is a moral fault or weakness in someone’s character. Gossip (which often stems from envy), greed and lust are a few examples of vices.
Enter the 3rd promise that Mary has given to those who are devoted to reciting the rosary. Regular praying of the Rosary, with the true desire to experience conversion and a sincere attempt to meditate on its mysteries (this is not to say we won’t experience frequent distractions), will in fact, destroy vice and decrease sin. This is how the Rosary becomes powerful armor against Hell.
The Rosary will also defeat heresies, which in the context of Catholicism, are intentional denials and or contradictions about the core doctrine of our Catholic faith. There are many who spread misinformation or untruths about the faith without sincere
knowledge of what the belief actually is. This is not heresy, but rather ignorance (albeit, we have an obligation as Catholics not to remain willfully ignorant). Heresy differs in that the spreader of the misinformation or untruth DOES know and IS aware of the truth, but chooses to misrepresent that truth (or outright lie) in the attempt to severely undermined and wound the Church . Frequent praying of the Rosary by the faithful will protect the Church from these false teachings and their ability to take root and spread like a cancer.
With such a powerful weapon in our arsenal, let us take up arms against all that threatens our immortal souls and begin the beautiful practice of devotion to the Rosary!
