Rosary Promise #4

The Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

This is one of those times when I have had to read through something many times over and wait for inspiration to hit. This is also one of those times when the Holy Spirit is very loudly saying, “What is written is enough. It does not require much explanation.” I have never interviewed or asked anyone point blank, “Hey, you say the Rosary. What amazing things has it done for you?” What I can offer, however, is my observation to the authenticity of this promise from our Blessed Mother.

When I recall the people I know who are devoted to praying the Rosary daily, I think of virtue and goodness. Anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, who sincerely prays and meditates on the mysteries of the Rosary, is humble and generous. These qualities speak to this 4th promise “it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities.” Generous people give abundantly and freely of whatever they have, be it time, talent and or treasure. They do not calculate loss vs. gain in regard to helping those around them. They give from their hearts, often times requiring some type of sacrifice. These are people who have experienced and recognized God’s mercy and this is revealed through their external works and through their ease at extending
mercy to others.

Trust our Mother’s promise and let us sanity ourselves by this means!
