Musings from Fr. Dave ~ 3rd Sunday of Advent

15 December 2019

The Word you hear continues to become even more hopeful this week. Christmas is right around the corner. Those who have suffered long, will find relief and experience heavenly joyfulness. A good example of that were the piles of wrapped gifts that were prepared and placed in the sanctuary last week. It felt great to celebrate Mass and preach to all of you surrounded by those colorful packages. Our “Giving Tree” was a resounding success! Another example? All of our children processing to their class at the 10:15 Mass; and the RCIA class being sent to theirs! I saw nothing but smiles. Yes, there is much to be thankful for: your heartfelt generosity and love of neighbor. Yet there are so many who find the coming season unbearable. For those who experience intense loneliness, or fractured relationships, this is a hard time of year. Please pray for those who suffer so. A visit to a nursing home or to someone who lives alone can bring the balm of healing, and much needed love. We can never give enough. There will always be a need out there somewhere.

From my point of view, you are a holy people; a people who really care, a people who so their best to live the Way of the Gospel. 10,000 blessings upon all of you. You sure know how to live Advent!

Love,
Fr. Dave
