Musings from Fr. Dave ~ 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time

3 October 2020

This evening I will be celebrating the Transitus (death) of St. Francis of Assisi. It is a beautiful liturgy that we Friars pray together. Tomorrow is the Feast of St. Francis (October 4th). St. Francis is one of the most famous mystics in the history of our church.

I will be on vacation the first two weeks of this month. I was wondering how to tell you that I will be leaving St. Ignatius of Loyola at the end of October. The Feasts of St. Francis are a perfect time to do so. We have been through some tough times together.

We have come out of them stronger than ever. Our faith in the Holy Spirit and in each other made that possible. Being your associate pastor has been a pleasure, serving you has been a privilege. You have been a blessing in my life.

Times of change are always a challenge. My Provincial Minister, The Very Reverend Mark Soehner, O. F. M., and I are discussing my next assignment; that is going well. Priests in good standing are always in demand. I will let all of you know where my next assignment will be. Until then I will continue to reside at St. Anthony Friary and National Shrine on Colerain Avenue here in Cincinnati. I will assist my brothers in the Masses and other liturgies there; this will be of great assistance to them. I leave you with a happy spirit. God bless all of you.

Love,
Dave
