Musings from Fr. Dave ~ 4th Sunday of Advent

22 December 2019

This is a very short final week of Advent. Christmas is mid-week this year.
So … on to this message for the last week of Advent. Dreams and Angels! I speak frequently about the “Whisper of the Holy Spirit” in our day to day life. God is always in contact with us; but do we hear His Voice? We have plenty of distractions as we move through life. Colorful and irresistible distractions, like a new phone, computer, or that latest gadget. Christmas parties that are often anything but related to the real meaning of Christmas. Now matter how much we are distracted, “The Divine One” is still in communication with us, but our ears and minds are tuned out. It is hard to find the time to retreat to a quiet place; but that is what Advent is all about. I am sure that God can out shout any kind of distraction, but God chooses the quiet way. God and His Angels communicate in our dreams too. Just listen again to the experience of Joseph in the Gospel you hear today. Take a rest today from all the hustle and bustle and you may hear “That Whisper”, it is the Good News we have been waiting for!

Love,
Fr. Dave
