Returning to Mass? Read below for some helpful reminders.
We are delighted that more people are coming back to church. In order to provide more seating, we have changed our configuration. We will now sit every other pew instead of every third pew. It is imperative that everyone wear their masks while in church.
When you enter church, you will see a poster board indicating which color pew you should sit in for that Mass. Please select an available pew best for your household size. Please try to arrive early to find a seat. If you sit in one of the larger pews, you will be sharing the pew with at least one other household. The pews have colored paper indicating which section of the pew to sit in if sharing. Please maintain social distancing. If your family size takes up an entire pew, of course you are free to sit anywhere within that pew. If the Mass is crowded, ushers will assist you in finding a seat.
If you are a single person, we ask that you leave the larger pews for larger families. We will continue to bring Communion to you in your pew.
Please remain kneeling and have your hands as flat as possible with one hand on top of the other as you receive Jesus.

When Mass has ended, please exit out any of the doors, waiting for those closest to the door to exit first and remaining socially spaced as you leave. If you leave through the handicap doors, please use the button to open the doors, thereby reducing contact with surfaces.
While we know you are excited to be back in church, please do not clap or talk inside church, not only to prevent transmission of droplets but also to be respectful of those who wish to make an Act of Thanksgiving after Mass.
When you exit church after Mass, do not congregate near the church doors; rather, move away from the doors and greet others, maintaining appropriate distance. Ours is a very large campus and parking lot, we hope you make the most of the nice weather and our beautiful grounds.
Welcome back!
The next American to be beatified is Father Michael McGivney. Beatification is the last step before canonization to sainthood, Fr. McGivney was ordained in 1877 and assigned to St. Mary’s Church, the first Catholic parish in New Haven, CT. There he faced challenges, not unlike today, including a priest shortage, financial hardships, rampant disease and hostility toward Catholics. As a young priest, he recognized that financial problems often split up families, endangering the faith of their members. Hence, he devised a way to strengthen the Catholic faith of men, while providing financial protection for their families when they suffered the death of the breadwinner.
Knowing that keeping families together helped address both temporal and spiritual needs, he founded the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal organization for Catholic men in 1882. His intent was to draw his people into the life and activities of the parish and provide Catholic men with an alternative to anti-Catholic secret societies that at that time offered social and employment advancement but drew them away from the faith. In 1890, he died at age 38 after being stricken with a respiratory infections. Fr. McGivney will be beatified at a special Mass on October 31 in Hartford.
In the future, watch for more information on Fr. McGivney and the Knights who still perpetuate his vision and mission. Find out more information and contact a Knight at knights@sainti.org.

An eight-week grief support group to assist people in working through the loss of a loved one will begin Wednesday, September 9 at 7pm at St. Ignatius in the Ignatius Center (across from the church). The purpose is to help you bring the grieving process into focus as well as to provide support for each other during this period of sorrow and the pain of a loss.
The seven steps of the grieving process that will be discussed are; denial, anger, questioning religion and faith, guilt, depression, powerlessness, and acceptance. You do not have to attend each one. And you are welcome even if your loss was some time ago. It often takes time.
Call Barb Evans at 661-6565 to sign up and with any questions.
Monday, September 28, 7pm – 10pm, Ignatius Center Left
Saturday, October 17, 8am – 11am, Ignatius Center Left
