Alleluia!!He has risen! I pray all will have a beautiful and happy Easter celebrating Christ’s victory over death. In the words of Fr. John Riccardo of Acts XXIX’s, The Rescue Project, you can’t really appreciate the explosive good news if you don’t know the absolute horror of the bad news. During Lent (and still currently), my family sat down together each week to view a chapter of the Rescue Project’s video series. Let me just make a side note right here… the fact
that I was able to talk 3 young adults and 1 teenager into doing this for Lent is quite remarkable. The icing on the cake was the extent of engagement they displayed while watching. If you have not yet explored this video series introduced to our parish by Brad Macke, director of adult faith formation, it is well worth the watch. Fr. John has a way of capturing the attention of anyone who watches, including those hard to reach teens and young adults. Over the years it has been nearly impossible for my family of six to agree upon and then peacefully watch any show or movie. With this series, however, one could hear a pin drop each week as my children sit motionless, hanging on to every word. This includes my distracted child, my know it all child, my bored child and my busy child. I have never experienced anything quite like it in my 24 years of parenting. If you are intrigued, here is the link to the website containing links to each chapter. Please note that viewer discretion is advised as there is sensitive content in some of these videos. The recommended age is teens and up. Parents may want to view first, as only you know best if your teen is ready to receive the information presented. Do try not to binge watch… there is so much to take in and on which to reflect following each video: https://rescueproject.us/watch/.
May is the month when we honor Mary, our Blessed Mother. Once again, Parish Health will be launching Miles for Mary, only this year, the challenge will be to complete 30 miles over the course of the entire month of May. Participants will not be required to complete a mile each day, but may double or triple up and take days off in between, ultimately reaching 30 miles by May 31st. The goal is to honor Mary through our miles with prayer and reflection.
Praying the Rosary (or a decade…), a Hail Mary, the Memorare or listening to beautiful music about Mary while doing our miles are all great ways to do this. The cost is $10 and proceeds will be a split the pot between the winner (drawn randomly out of all who successfully complete all 30 miles) and the parish. Need not be a parishioner to join (invite your friends and family!). Please contact me at krewwer@sainti.org or (513) 661-6565 ext. 2742 to sign up. Last year’s lucky winner walked away with winnings of over $600! If you would like to pay via Venmo (@Kate-Rewwer), please use Miles for Mary as the reason for payment. If you would like to pay by check, you may make checks payable to St. Ignatius of Loyola and put Miles for Mary in the memo section. If possible, please do not pay with cash.
