Sanctuary Alteration & Recarpeting Project
St. Ignatius Sanctuary Construction Project is a “GO”!
Just in the nick of time, we have received a starting date from our construction contractor and official permission from the Archbishop to begin our construction project in the sanctuary.
The construction is scheduled to begin Monday morning, November 18, and we hope for the project to be complete by Saturday, December 7.
As you may be aware, I took a vote at all Masses the weekend of October 27th, asking for a mandate to do a small remodeling of our sanctuary. At all Masses the majority voted “yes”. This project involves the removal of the top step of the sanctuary (the smaller platform in which the altar now sits), as well as the step where the ambo is located, the cutting of the back wall (in order to move the tabernacle two feet further back), an adaptation of the tabernacle steps, and a replacement of our worn, stained red sanctuary carpet with some new dark blue carpet.
WHERE DO I ATTEND MASS?
-
THE SATURDAY VIGIL MASS AND ALL FOUR SUNDAY MASSES WILL CONTINUE TO BE HELD IN CHURCH FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.
-
Weekday Masses will be in Loyola Hall for the duration of the project.
-
Saturday morning 9:15 am Mass will be in church IF the church is available, otherwise it will be in Loyola Hall.
-
ON THANKSGIVING DAY LOOK FOR SIGNS INDICATING WHERE MASS WILL BE. IT COULD POSSIBLY BE IN CHURCH, BUT WILL PROBABLY BE IN LOYOLA HALL
-
Scheduled CONFESSIONS that usually precede or follow a given Mass time will be held in the same location where the Mass is.
-
We plan to make a large visible sign for the front glass doors of the church which will indicate that the Mass that day is in Loyola Hall. If you see no sign, Mass is in church.
-
Saturday ADORATION (7-9am) will take place where the Mass is on that given Saturday.
-
Unfortunately, Thursday Adoration will be canceled for the duration of the construction project.
-
FOR CONFESSIONS ON THURSDAY EVENINGS 5-7PM. Please come to the office entrance, which is also a side entrance of church to form a line which from there you can go to confession
