July ~ Parish Health Happenings

On June 25th, our May Miles for Mary challenge officially wrapped up with our family rosary, led by John Leyendecker, followed by Kona Ice for all who attended.  It was the perfect way to conclude our first parish wide mile challenge and was also a loving tribute to our Blessed Mother.  We discussed Marian consecration and had beautiful pictorial books available to families interested in doing a 33 day consecration beginning July 13th, the feast of the Assumption.  If you would like one of these books, they are available in the parish office for $10.  These would make wonderful gifts for any young families in your lives (hint hint, grandparents…).

Thank you so much to all who have signed up for a day of fasting and prayer in the month of July.  It is not too late to join our efforts and there are several spots still available.  Please use the link to sign up and fast and pray for our brothers and sisters at war.  Remember, it is completely ok to start very small if you are new to fasting. See link to sign up on this page!

Our first Physical Therapy screening day was a success with parishioner Matt Gingras offering his expertise.  Matt will continue to make himself available on the 4th Sunday of the month from 9:30-1:30 in Loyola Hall.  During that time, parish health nurses will also be on hand to take blood pressures.  Come and see us next on July 24th before or after Mass.  In July we will have plenty of hot coffee and fresh donuts to those who come use our services.  Did the parish HEALTH nurse actually just offer donuts???  She did.  She actually did.  But only because she trusts all who eat the donuts will go home and eat vegetables, fruits and lean protein for the remainder of the day!  Balance, my friends.

I will be offering a free, on site 5k training program to all those interested in running the Iggy 5k on October 1st.  While this is open to anyone signed up for the race, I am trying to make this possible for busy parents.  I know many often feel as though they would like to improve their overall fitness, but can’t seem to make time given the demands of busy work and family life.  This is the reason for the time and place.  The program will begin on August 9th and will run every Tuesday and Thursday evening through the last week of September.  Training will be on the St. Ignatius campus and will include training on the 5k course.  It will be approximately one hour in length and incorporate a cool down and stretching.  Strollers welcome.  Must be registered for the 5k to participate.  Please contact me at krewwer@sainti.org or call (513) 661-6565 ext 2742 to register or for more information.

SoulCore classes continue to be offered on Thursday mornings from 6:15-7:15 am, led by instructor, Julie Schneider.  Join us for a beautiful start to your day!

May God bless and keep you and your families safe this summer.
