January ~ Parish Health Happenings

Thank you to the many parishioners who have introduced themselves and extended such a warm welcome as I embrace my new role as your parish health nurse. It is a privilege to serve the St. Ignatius community and I look forward to getting to know many more in the years to come. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, ideas or comments.

After a successful trial class, St. Ignatius will be offering SoulCore twice a month to all parishioners beginning in January. The classes will be held on Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening in an effort to accommodate differing schedules for those interested in attending. The January dates are Tuesday, January 11th from 6am-7am and Wednesday and January 26th from 7pm-8pm. Both will be held in Loyola Hall. See below for a description of this amazing opportunity to renew mind, body and spirit in an hour.

Join leader, Julie Schneider, in Loyola Hall for SoulCore, an apostolate that combines the prayers of the rosary to nourish the body, mind & soul. The prayers of the rosary will be combined with core strengthening, stretching and functional movement. No fitness level, experience or reservations required. All are welcome! Dress in comfortable clothing, bring a fitness mat, water, light hand weights, if preferred, and an open heart to receive the graces of the prayers. Modifications will be offered for those who want to sit in a chair or would like additional support. A few extra mats and hand weights will be available. Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in, and complete a simple waiver. Cost is free but occasional donations are accepted to defray the leaders expenses.

On January 23rd, parish health nurses will be in the back of church following each Mass for blood pressure screenings. Please stop by and get your blood pressure checked. We will be offering a healthy (gluten free too) muffin and recipe to take home. The value of a simple screening is huge in helping with prevention and even greater if it assists in identification of an impending health
crisis. With blood pressure, such crisis usually equate to a cardiac event or stroke. Many can be caught and avoided with screenings.

Abundant blessings to you and your families in the

New Year!
