August ~ Parish Health Happenings

The Parish Health ministry has plenty to entertain you for the upcoming fall, not the least of which is the Iggy 5k training program, which begins on Tuesday, August 9th.

The Run Far Iggy 5k training program will meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6pm in front of Loyola Hall. The program is designed to take you from a beginning runner to a 5k runner by our October 1st event. Please reach out if you would like to participate. Must be signed up for the Iggy 5k run, walk and kid dash to participate.

I’m not going to lie… Fr. Mannebach showing me his fitness watch with his morning runs and steps upon arriving at the office has lit that competitive flame to make sure I have more steps by 9am than he does. Priest or no priest… it’s on!

We continue to offer SoulCore classes every Thursday morning at 6:30 am in Loyola Hall. Julie Schneider, our SoulCore leader and instructor, does an exceptional job of leading us  through the mysteries of the rosary with a full body, functional movement workout. This workout is designed for all fitness levels and multiple accommodations can be made. Come check out a class and see see the difference starting your day with prayer and exercise can make!

Our blood pressure screenings will take place after all Masses in the back of church the weekend of August 27th and 28th. We will not be doing PT screenings in August due to the festival, however those will resume in September. Once again in September, Matt Gingras will be in Loyola Hall to assist anyone who would like a free screening. Screenings include, but are not limited to those dealing with joint pain or stiffness, difficulty with hobbies such as gardening, golfing, playing pickle ball, hiking, walking, etc., balance issues and or hoping to decrease risk of falls, assistance in (or fitting of) training with assistive devices (walker, roller, cane, crutches) and screening of injury following an athletic event (sports, running, biking, etc.,). Come see Matt next on September 25th anytime from 9:30-noon for all of your physical therapy questions.

Have you ever considered or are you interested in distributing Communion to our homebound parishioners? We are looking for more EMHC to bring our Blessed Lord in the Eucharist to those unable to come to Mass. For more information on training and time commitment, please reach out at krewwer@sainti.org or call 661-6565 ext. 2742. I personally find this to be the day’s most important thing and greatest privilege to drive around and bring Jesus to others.

May God bless you and keep you and your families safe.
