Musings from Fr. Dave ~ 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time

The Dog Days of summer are here, more heat and humidity.
Meanwhile we are trying to keep each other healthy and safe from the
pandemic. Home at the friary we are all self-isolating. After six months of
this, it is getting to be a challenge. I am sure it is for you too. The important
thing is to keep at it. We must be as persistent as the woman in todays
Gospel. I am praying for all of you every day, for your continuing health and
wellbeing.

When I am celebrating our streamed Masses, I love to acknowledge
everyone worshiping from home. I have received many thank yous for the
farewell wave I give to every one of you as I make my exit to the sacristy.

Our readings for today are of God’s infinite mercy. Our church, God’s
House, is a house of prayer for all people. We need to be persistent in
prayer. The woman in todays Gospel was not afraid to get into a little
banter with Jesus, and it payed off! Her daughter was cured. Keep your
chins up! Jesus has that divine listening ear. Listen for that whisper of the
Holy Spirit.
Peace and All Good,
Fr. Dave
