Musings from Fr. Dave ~ Baptism of The Lord

12 January 2020

With this week ends Masses, the Christmas Season closes; and we begin the church season of winter ordinary time. It is time to get those holiday decorations down and ready ourselves to make the most of winter. I don’t know about you, but I think I may leave my Christmas crèche up for a little while longer. It was so much fun watching it come to life over the last six or seven weeks, that I want to enjoy it a bit more. That is just like life! It is hard to let go of something we love and get on with living. With that thought I will more than likely dismantle it on Monday.

I did my best to live the season of Christmas. That is challenging to do after almost three weeks. Now it is the time to move on. Winter Ordinary Time will last for seven weeks. With today’s Feast, Jesus begins his public ministry. At this time of year, a good question to ask ourselves is: How is God present in my daily life? I find God in my ministry to all of you. I find God in my religious community’s daily life at St. Anthony National Shrine. I pray that all of you find Jesus’ presence in your day to day family life, at your place of work as well as in your quiet time.

Happy Winter everyone! Stay warm and cozy!

Love,
Fr. Dave
